A bug had crept into the iges file import which I have now fixed in the latest release of M3d - Apologies.
This video shows how to mesh a 2d surface in M3d and calculate the 2d section properties. The surface meshing capability is currently limited to surface created in M3d using the "SURBOUND" command. The meshing functionality will be extended to all surface types. New version of M3d uploaded today to the website. Continuing on the theme of the development of the new 2d Mesh generator. M3d can now create an arbitrary beam cross section and numerically calculate the section properties
The 2d mesher is not released at present. In the next release I hope to add the following:-
*The 2d Mesher for M3d planner surface only (for now). *2d plane stress solution sequence. *2d plane strain solution sequence. *2d axi-symetric solution sequence. *Fixes for the tet mesher. The 2d meshes generated can be solved with the full 3d lin-static solution sequence but for completeness I will add the 2 DOF solutions. Continuing work on the 2d Advancing Front mesh generator. The picture below shows the mesh generated on a NURBs surface with internal trim loop. 5048 elements generated in less than 1s with 1 smoothing cycle The coarse versionDelaunay PROPERTYInitial release of results vectors in Post-Processing are now available in M3d v3.41 uploaded to the website today.
Shown below is a test case of a square plate in shear. The results vectors for maximum and minimum principal stresses are displayed. Superimposed are both results from M3d's solver and the results from Nastran. They are almost identical, so not visibly discernible. New results vector display coming soon.
Shown below are the maximum and minimum principal stress vectors for a short beam with end load. Edit F.E. entities, materials and properties with the data table dialog. |
